The Eagle Ultra Grip GW2 is Goodyear's Performance Winter tire developed for the drivers of performance coupes and sport sedans looking for traction on winter's dry, wet and snow-covered roads. Eagle Ultra Grip GW2 winter tires are designed to combine good snow and ice traction with European high-speed winter driving performance. Eagle Ultra Grip GW2 winter tires feature a performance winter compound molded into a directional tread pattern with rounded shoulders and rigid independent tread blocks to combine dry handling and wet hydroplaning resistance with traction in snow and on ice. The tread design features strategically placed, multi-directional zigzag sipes to provide the biting edges needed to enhance winter traction without resorting to traditional metal studs. Eagle Ultra Grip GW2 winter tires meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the mountain/snowflake symbol. Install Eagle Ultra Grip GW2 tires in sets of four only. Due to the traction capabilities of the Eagle Ultra Grip GW2, Goodyear recommends using Eagle Ultra Grip GW2 tires only in sets of four to provide the best handling characteristics and tire performance.

I bought 4 of these tires slightly used from my mechanic. He buys Crown Vic police cars at auction and a lot of agencies use these tires. I drive 400 to 500 miles a day in my job as a courier and have had these tires on for about 35K miles. They are by far the best tires I have ever had in the rain, completely eliminating hydroplaning. Even though these are primarily winter/snow tires they have been good in dry warm weather too. They really grab the road on high speed curves. They are pretty noisy, especially towards the end of there lives and they start to pull on irregular road surfaces. I can probably stretch another 8-10K out of these and will be replacing them with Goodyear Eagle GT's not that I am unhappy with them, it's just that I go through tires pretty quick with the miles I drive and the GT's are much less expensive. I hope to get the same performance out of the GT's, I'll write a review. Bottom line, I would definately buy the Ultra Grips again and would highly recommend them.
