The Fortera featuring TripleTred Technology is Goodyear's innovative Highway All-Season light truck tire developed to give pickup, van and sport utility vehicle owners peace of mind when driving on any road in virtually any weather. It was designed to combine long wear with remarkable year-round traction in a variety of weather conditions, including snow. Fortera TripleTred radials have three specialized tread compounds molded into a directional tread design that features three unique tread zones. A Dry Zone uses stable shoulder blocks to provide confident maneuvering on dry roads, an intermediate Water Zone has Aquachutes to help propel water away from the tread to maintain road contact in the rain, and a central Ice Zone features a heavily siped interlocking rib to enhance traction in snow and on ice (Fortera TripleTred radials meet the industry’s severe snow service requirements and are branded with the mountain / snowflake symbol). The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyester cord and a two-ply polyester cord body to help deliver strength and durability along with a smooth ride. Fortera TripleTred Highway All-Season tires are branded with the mountain/snowflake symbol to identify they meet industry severe snow service standards.

I have more than 250,000 SUV miles with different vehicles plus passenger miles - all of it mostly in Colorado before moving to Texas. Here, I appreciate the tires wet road performance since rain is a bigger issue than snow. This is without doubt the best tire I have owned for all-around weather performance and dry roads too. Like others, I think it is pretty pricey but I will bite the bullet and buy them again. Clearly the price is related to the quality and technical aspects of the tire including R&D costs as well as costs of manufacture. Of course, supply and demand figure in there too. Like someone said, you get what you pay for - but you also have to pay for what you get!
